Bought myself a vc v8 Gasser
« on: October 25, 2018, 11:52:53 PM »
Well i finally did it. Those of u who know me know i love vc valiants. My dream for years has been to get myself a genuine vc v8. Well i made that dream come true this week. I drove 1000 kms north from Melbourne to Newcastle 200 kms north of Sydney and like what i seen and we struck a deal, and brought her back home. Did 2000kms on my own in 2 days. This car was road registered and was done like a gasser. It turns heads every where i take it. Has a very healthy 318 v8, i bought it with a transmission issue so its currently at mechanics place getting that looked at, not sure what the problem is just yet, may be minor or may need a rebuild. Has a cm lsd diff which has been shortened with centura axles, has cm lower control arms, vh sway bar, cm front and rear brakes with cm v8 booster and master. Not sure what my plans are for it yet, just fix a few things for now and get it on the road again, maybe replace the vinyl roof and tidy up a few things, then maybe down the track ill get her painted and put it back to original, but will enjoy it the way it is for now. Thought id share the good news with u all.

Well got the verdict the transmission in it is f@cked!! Previous owner over heated the trans, busted the clutch pack and snapped the rear output shaft, also had castings in the torque converter. Problem was it is a worked 318 and the trans is a factory 904 for the 273 which are weaker then 318 904 transmissions, and also the kick down was not connected which can cause big issues too. So we are building up a tuffer transmission. We are putting cl / cm 318 904 input and out put shafts into it, re-using the stage 2 Transgo shift kit and going a bigger stall of around 2500 and reconditioning the rest, should be a tuff box when finished which will handle the punishment. The spending has already started and purchased new external door handles to replace the pitted ones and ordered new autometer gauges.
