Bent bumper irons were the problem so a tweak here & a bash there she was close. Refitted the bumper supports and bumper is now ready to send off for rechroming.

But true to form I couldn't leave well enough alone so had a dig in one of the corners in the tailgate and end up with a few spare bits.

We'll sort it, a good blasting makes life a lot easier.

Too true.

Picked up the bonnet this morning. Very happy with the result.

1. Was dinged near on 40 years ago, panel shop of the day gas axed the subframe out and started repairing it but then came upon a good bonnet so this one went into dry storage, and was given to me a few years back.

2. It took the senior panel guy quite a bit of time (and measuring of pattern bonnet) to get it right including 52 shrinks on the RH side.

3. Another angle.

4. He had a brief shot at straightening the old subframe piece but flagged that & instead used a piece out of the original wagon bonnet (Z). Took the subframe section (X) out to enable a more precise result on the outer skin.

Got back onto sorting out that inner RH corner of the tailgate today.

It was suggested to me by more than one person that strengthening this corner was a good idea so I did.

Yes there is some dodgy looking welds that still need cleaned up but hey there is only us that know they're there so why bother

1. New internal corner & hinge plate made out of 2mm panel

2. Fitted, plug welded from the outside & rough welds on the inside yet to be cleaned up.

3. New bottom mount for tailgate glass guide.

4. New bottom mount for tailgate glass guide fitted

1. Tailgate glass guide trial fitted

2. Fixed a few other small pin holes using my new magnetic copper plug weld tool.
